ABERDEEN, S.D.¨C The 2024 BIG Idea Competition celebrated entrepreneurial spirit and innovative thinking among high school students, culminating in an awards ceremony on December 11 at Northern State University. This year¡¯s competition drew an impressive 283 entries from 377 students representing 66 schools.

For the second consecutive year, the event featured a separate virtual competition for finalists outside South Dakota, judged independently with dedicated prizes. A total of over $50,000 in cash and scholarships was awarded across both competitions.

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C?Northern State University¡¯s TRIO McNair Program hosted its first-ever Fall Symposium on Dec. 11 in the Centennial Room of the NSU Student Union, where five McNair Scholars presented their research to an engaged audience of faculty, staff, and peers.

Each scholar delivered a 15-minute presentation supported by PowerPoint, followed by a question-and-answer session. The event showcased the breadth of research interests among the scholars, covering topics in history, biochemistry, and education.
